How much does a kids' doctor make?

In the United States, pay can differ with experience, licenses or certifications, and whether a pediatrician works in a clinic, hospital, or another setting. Location and the work’s duties can also make a difference.

What's a typical day like?

A clinic day may alternate checkups with sick visits: a pediatrician measures growth, examines children, gives vaccines or treatment, and answers parents’ questions. They record health details, explain test results, and send a child to a specialist when needed.

After high school, the usual U.S. path is about four years of college, four years of medical school, and a three-year pediatrics residency—so many start practicing in their late 20s. They pass the USMLE licensing exams and obtain a state medical license.
