How much does a athletic trainer make?

In the U.S., pay varies with experience, location and work setting: NATA reports differences by years on the job and region, and BLS shows differences by industry. Some trainers are paid by salary, hourly or per diem; state credentials help them qualify for jobs. Team jobs can include evening or weekend shifts and travel.

What's a typical day like?

Before a game, they may tape an athlete’s ankle; if someone is hurt, they check the injury and give first aid on the sideline. Later they guide rehab, plan ways to prevent injuries, and write treatment notes.

In the U.S., complete a CAATE-accredited master’s program in athletic training, with classroom lessons and hands-on clinical practice. Then pass the BOC certification exam and meet your state’s licensing or certification rules.
