In the United States, pay can differ with experience, location, and whether an acupuncturist works for a clinic or runs a private practice. Longer hours and seeing more patients can increase income, while business costs affect owners; licenses and extra skills can also matter.

What's a typical day like?

They ask patients about their health, make a care plan, place needles, and check how treatment is working. They also write patient notes, and in a private clinic may schedule visits or order supplies.

Complete an accredited graduate-level acupuncture program, usually three to four years, then pass NCCAOM exams and clean-needle training. Most states use NCCAOM exams or certification for a license, but check your state's rules.
