What's a typical day like?

Before showtime, a projectionist checks the projector and sound, loads the digital movie, and adjusts the picture and volume. During screenings, they monitor several screens, fix problems, and clean or maintain equipment.

In the U.S., a high school diploma or GED is usually enough, and you learn to check and run projection and sound systems on the job. Some union apprenticeship routes may require applicants to be 18 or older and pass a union exam.
