How much does a metal forging operator make?

What's a typical day like?

They read a job sheet, fit dies to a press, and position metal so the machine can shape it hot or cold. They watch the press, check each piece with measuring tools, and adjust the setup if needed.

In the U.S., finish high school, then learn in a factory; math and shop or technology classes help. On-the-job training often takes about a year, and a forging apprenticeship is another route.
